NOA RODRÍGUEZ MÉNDEZ

Through my artistic practice I explore scientific methodologies, with the aim of producing new meanings. I investigate different ways of representing reality in order to reflect and affect the way we perceive.

I work from a transdisciplinary approach where each discipline provides one more level of reality. In this sense, I want to go beyond the new trend in Art and Science, summoning the maximum number of disciplines involved in a phenomenon.

I work with recycled material, painting, video-projection, weeds and interactive sensors. I am interested in the potential of technology to produce new ways of representing, as well as in the possibility to find a dialogue between the natural systems and our use of technology with its possibilities and purposes.

At the core of my work is always the inherent motive of art to refer to and portray reality with the aim of understanding it. In my projects I try to collaborate with different experts and communities because I am interested in the dialogue  that germinates in these meetings.

Graduated with distinction in the Master Art and Science, at Central Saint Martins in UAL (University of Arts London). My final project The Wasteland was nominated to the MullenLowe NOVA Awards and shortlisted to This Earth MAISON/0 Award.

Currently I combine my artistic practice with the studies of Landscape Architecture. Under the framework of landscaping I have found a way to bring together my interests in the field of public space, ecology and art.
